A Round-up of the Kreaverse
|
The Kreaverse is where innovation thrives, opportunities abound, and the pursuit of knowledge never wavers. Here, our students are empowered to excel in their chosen fields, nurtured by a conducive space dedicated to their growth and development.
Making the best use of the resources available, the IFMR Graduate School of Business (GSB) students, for the last couple of months, have been deeply engaged in carving out their career paths, navigating a landscape teeming with placement and internship prospects. Simultaneously, students at the School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS) have been meticulously perfecting the art of crafting compelling resumes and Statements of Purpose, guided by support of the Career Services Office (CSO).
The University has always fostered an environment where academic and extracurricular pursuits merge seamlessly. In perfect alignment with this ethos, Rangasthala, the Theatre Club of SIAS, emerged victorious, clinching the first prize at the theatre competition held at IIM Indore, surpassing 45 competing teams. Simultaneously, we welcomed the newly elected SIAS Student Government for the term 2023-2024 into the fold.
Deep within the essence of the University lies our commitment to the wellbeing of our community. Reiterating this, the Communications Team launched a social media campaign to highlight the endeavours of the Inclusive Learning Support (ILS) office and the steadfast assistance provided by coordinators of Embrace, Peer Support Volunteer programme.
As we journey through the heart of Krea, we feel a palpable energy, a sense of purpose, and a drive to make a difference. To catch a glimpse of the weekly happenings, read on. On October 30 and 31, as part of the Halloween celebration, HerCampus at Krea University kicked off the festivities with a thrilling Capture the Flag showdown. It was a spectral duel between Werewolves vs Vampires. The objective of this game was to infiltrate the enemy's domain, seize their flag, and spirit it away to safety, all while avoiding the chilling grasp of the opponent's touch. There were a total of 40 participants and a handful of spectators.
HerCampus also organised a chilling movie night at Seminar Hall 1, where they featured a gruesome masterpiece titled Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The seminar hall was packed with people, the food and drinks were sold out and everyone was dressed up in fun costumes making the event a success.

When Science Meets Reasoning
|
Dr John Mathew, Associate Professor of History of Science, SIAS will deliver a talk titled Special Scientific Reasoning Lecture: Why History Matters for Science today from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm IST on the Sri City campus. Increasingly, the plural nature of Science has been brought to the fore for a number of reasons. Disciplines that were easily recognisable in the 19th and 20th century are fraying, with a plenitude of new ones appearing in their wake. While present-day preoccupations largely undergird such impulses, it is important to take stock of what drives such moments of origin, which frequently reside in the long past, without divorcing them from their social contexts throughout that journey. It is precisely in such circumstances that history plays such a crucial role. This talk will hopefully hold a candle to why and how.
