As the New Year unfolds, students and faculty members converge on Krea campus, refreshed from their Christmas break. The Kreaverse, our perpetual hub of activity, hums with renewed vitality.
Our faculty members continue to amplify the portfolios by contributing to the field of academia. Classrooms are bustling with stimulating conversations. Experts from diverse domains are gracing the campus and enlightening our students with insightful Krea talks.
At the backend, admissions for various programmes at both schools are open and in full swing. Placements at IFMR Graduate School of Business (GSB) is keeping students and faculty on their toes. Students at the School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS) are enthusiastically diving into a spectrum of extracurricular endeavours everyday. The air is charged with anticipation, signaling the onset of a blend of fruitful developments.

Making Every Identity Count
|
Shreya Kabadi from the cohort of 2024 and Dishita Sharma from the cohort of 2027 at SIAS, Krea University are putting together a multimedia exhibition titled Speak up on identities hindering classroom experiences today in classrooms 2B and 2C from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm. The students believe that every individual carries an identity, which is a complex intersection of social categorisation. Identities can thus become barriers in the classroom resulting in different struggles. The purpose of this exhibition is to present these isolated experiences to ensure individuals suffering collectively are not alone in this journey and build a shared understanding with a broader audience.

Exploring the Complexities of Childhood
|
Psychology at Krea invites you for a round table discussion organised by Krea University, in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), delving into the groundbreaking work of Prof Erica Burman on Child as Method. Scheduled for 9 January, 2024, from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, this event offers participants the flexibility to engage either in person at Krea University campus or virtually via Zoom. The discussants include Prof Erica Burman, Manchester Institute of Education, University of Manchester; Prof Minati Panda, Zakir Husain Centre for Educational Studies, JNU and Dr Akanksha Adya, Assistant Professor of Psychology, SIAS, Krea University.

The Guild, Mumbai has published a monograph based on the exhibition of artist Akbar Padamsee’s Searching for the Present, Where?, curated by Dr Srajana Kaikini, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, SIAS, Krea University for the gallery and held at The Guild, Mumbai. In this monograph, Dr Kaikini offers an incisive philosophical reading of Padamsee’s figurations through photography, pencil, and watercolour (1995 - 2006).

Of Politics, Culture and Political Economy
|
Prof Akeel Bilgrami will deliver a talk titled How did ’the world’ go from being a place to live into a place to master and control? today from 6.15 pm at Seminar Hall 2. In his lecture, he will explore how the concept of nature was transformed into the concept of natural resources and what the implications of that transformation are for politics, culture and political economy. The talk is organised by faculties of Environmental Studies, Philosophy & Politics in collaboration with Moturi Satyanarayana Centre for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

Khirki Conversations - Third Edition
|
On 9 January, 2023, at 6.00 pm in Seminar Hall 2, the second day of his visit to Krea University, Prof Akeel Bilgrami will grace the third edition of Khirki Conversations, a space for discussing ideas – big and small, urgent and emergent – across academic disciplines and modes of thinking. He will speak on the topic - What is Humanistic Inquiry?: Exploring the Challenges.

Translation and the Margins
|
As part of Krea Literature Talks, Prof Sowmya Dechamma C C, Centre for Comparative Literature, University of Hyderabad, will deliver a lecture titled Translation and the Margins on 9 January, 2024. The talk will focus on how translation engages with marginalised identities especially in India, the possibilities it has opened up in the 20th and 21st centuries and the potential it holds for our futures.

Prof S Sivakumar, Dean of Research and Professor of Physics, will begin a three-month Visiting Fellowship at Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, United Kingdom on 15 January, 2024.
He will collaborate with colleagues at Lucy Cavendish College and other Colleges of the University of Cambridge to advance his research on topics like atom-cavity systems, quantum information theory, and photosynthesis physics.

Prof Sachidanand Sinha, former Professor at JNU, delivered a talk titled From Worldview to Public Policy: Searching for Evidence in Social Sciences on 3 January, 2024 on the Sri City campus. The talk uncovered the significance of evidence-based decision-making in social sciences, delving into large-scale secondary data sources from various governments and organisations to discover the potential and limitations of these datasets in shaping informed public policies.
