A Round-up of the Kreaverse
|
Ingrained in the philosophy of preparing young minds for an uncertain future, for careers and roles that are yet to be conceived, the educational journey at Krea University always aspires to go beyond traditional classrooms. It empowers students to adapt, evolve, and synthesise knowledge through a forward-looking perspective from the first day.
Resonating the core values and beliefs, the admissions' process for the undergraduate programme at the School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS) at Krea University kicked off in full swing early this week. We've been inviting aspiring innovators to join us as the Krea Open House travels across India, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and New Delhi from 8 October to 21 October.
In the midst of this, the current cohort of students at SIAS, Krea University is deeply engrossed in its trimester examinations. While some have already set off for their breaks, others are wrapping up their final exams. Our second-year students at IFMR Graduate School of Business (GSB) at Krea University are optimistically gearing up for the upcoming placement season. The atmosphere at Krea is marked by a strong sense of focus on academic pursuits. In the meantime, our dedicated faculty members continue to mentor students, provide insightful workshops, and always find time for their own research and contributions to the world of academia.
While extracurricular activities may have temporarily taken a backseat, at Kreaverse, a multitude of innovative ideas are constantly in the pipeline, waiting to materialise. What you're currently perusing is just a glimpse. Stay updated by following our social media channels, and if you have news to share with the Krea community, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us at all.commsteam@krea.edu.in. We’re all ears.

Sukrutya, the Skills Club at SIAS, Krea University seeks to foster a community of learners and teachers and equip students with skills necessary in everyday life. They hope to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and practical skills used in everyday life through community learning and teaching.
Over the past year, they have conducted events spanning skills like saree draping, financial literacy, stitching and most recently, a henna workshop in collaboration with the Fine Arts Club, SIAS. Their biggest project was Project Aikyam, a six-week spoken Tamil workshop series where they brought together six student tutors and over 80 participants from both SIAS and IFMR GSB schools to learn basic Tamil words and sentences. As a community, they want to enable college students to have the skills required to be independent adults.
On Krea’s social media platforms, in the coming week, we will give you a glimpse of the significant work done by Sukrutya over the recent months.

Summer internships may be over but honestly, externships are here to stay. Externships are where students build professional experiences and portfolios by working 8 to 16 hours every week alongside their courses. In a newly launched week-long campaign, we document the narratives of our students where they candidly recount their first days of stepping into the world of externships, share invaluable insights, open up about their apprehensions and obstacles, and distill the profound lessons they've garnered along the way. In their stories, you will find inspiration and excitement, aplenty!

The Her Campus Krea carnival game night, held on 30 September, at the Open Air Theatre on Sri City campus was more than just a fun night out that allowed the student body to take a short break from the stress of finals week and enjoy carnival-themed games and activities; it was also an opportunity for its community to come together and contribute to two significant causes. They generated funds for both the Her Campus team, which will allow them to continue holding such engaging events as well as for the SIAS girls football team, to raise funds to participate in and train for inter-collegiate tournaments.

Dr Rama Devi, Visiting Faculty at SIAS, Krea University was recently invited to deliver a virtual session titled Writing Social Research: Title, Abstract, and Conclusion at the pre-Graduate Research Meet workshop organised by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. This workshop engaged with a few select aspects of research writing that often seem insignificant, manageable, or the most uncomplicated components. It offered a hands-on experience by inviting participants to reflect critically and write a title, abstract, keywords, conclusion, and annotated bibliography. The writing exercise engaged researchers to cogently organise their research ideas and prepare the first draft, conveying key arguments, findings, and significance of their tentative research topic vis-a-vis contemplating the challenges they confront while preparing the draft.
