A Round-up of the Kreaverse
|
The monsoons are here and so is the promise of new beginnings, of fresh new steps taken with the firm knowledge attained through the learnings of our pasts as we gaze into the future forward. The campus is abuzz, the sound of those footsteps in the corridor, classrooms brimming with excitement, the perimeter set for those picturesque evening walks and the warm cup of coffee waiting at Narasimhulu’s with that signature puff, a slice of the Krea life awaiting to be experienced by the newest members of the Krea family. The Cohorts of both IFMR Graduate School of Business ( GSB) and School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences ( SIAS) are checking in, into the future they are set to carve together.
This week witnessed the inauguration of IFMR GSB’s brand new 5 year Integrated BBA+MBA Programme, while the University gets ready to welcome the incoming UG cohort at SIAS to Kreator’s Mosaic, the Orientation Week. The faculty members continued to do pivotal work exploring narratives that are imperative for the future we are building.
Not to forget the monumental achievement by our student Naga Satish Pasupuleti, who brought us splendid news, from the mountains.
As we gear up for a new academic session, here is raising a toast to the entire Krea community and its shades of diversity. Keep watching our social media handles for scoops from the upcoming days on campus and otherwise.

The Jugalbandi of Arts and University Life
|
Srinidhi Pennathur, SIAS Cohort of 2025 shares her story, of interweaving arts with university life, set against the backdrop of the learning tapestry at Krea. Srinidhi, most recently performed at Krea University’s Convocation 2023.
What is your take on the role of arts/artistes in building the culture of an institution and how would you like to contribute and inspire the incoming batch?
The thing about arts is that it's transformative. It contributes to building a culture by advocating self-expression, bringing people from different backgrounds together, and acts as a common medium of understanding between individuals. Furthermore, it is a way to learn and explore its plethora of forms. I would like to contribute by representing Carnatic Classical Music whenever I can. To the incoming batch, I would tell them to take initiative and do things outside of their comfort zone. I would also want to reassure them that they will be okay and that they will survive college. No seriously, they will!

Higher Education and the Union Budget
|
In this talk held on 17 April, Prof Saumen Chattopadhyay, Zakir Husain Centre for Educational Studies (ZHCES), School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), illustrated how public finance works in reality. This series brings together policymakers, think tanks, and informed citizens to make relevant budget information available to everyone. The lecture was on Higher Education and the Union Budget with an introduction to the rationale for public vis-à-vis private funding of higher education. The lecture series was anchored by Dr Debdulal Thakur, Senior Research Fellow, LEAD at Krea University, and managed by SIAS students.

Dr Dhar subverted Psychology’s assumptions of neutrality via a two-pronged approach — first, by discussing what type of subject is created by mainstream Psychology, and second, by exploring research corruption rampant in the discipline. Resultantly, Dr Dhar destabilised its purported grounding in Science and dismantle its prescriptions of health and healing.
