A Round-up of the Kreaverse
‘Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.’ These words by Mahatma Gandhi resonate deeply with the learning philosophy at Krea, where students are prepared for lifelong leadership and not mere immediate employability.
We are in November, the month of silent sunrises and a nip in the air, ushering in the year to a gradual close. It has been a year full of accomplishments, achievements, and learnings for the Krea community. As we gaze ahead into the Future Forward, we also celebrate the spirit of growth and transformation of our Kreators, an exhilarating and challenging experience in itself.
Faculty members continue to create and sustain the spirit of enquiry, fuelling numerous research advancements and turning fresh pages in chapters of mentoring.
We welcome more learners into the Krea wings to experience the transformative power of learning, woven through the Krea learning experience. Admissions are open for the undergraduate programmes at the School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS) and IFMR Graduate School of Business (GSB), and the postgraduate programme at IFMR GSB. Round 1 Admissions for the UG programmes close on November 15, 2023.
Alongside the continuum of learning, we also gear up for the festive season, end-of-the-year gratitude, and promises of new beginnings. Here is an ode to the light of knowledge, empathy, and kindness that enthuses us within the Kreaverse.

Join in for an interesting two-day workshop by Global Arts, SIAS Krea University. Led by Dr Prajna Desai, an independent scholar, writer, curator, and translator, the workshop is titled Landscape as Vision, Place, and Change on November 15-16 2023, 6.30 pm – 8.00 pm IST.
Throughout history, landscape has been a muse. It has catalysed the endeavours of explorers, artists, composers, writers, architects, filmmakers, revolutionaries, planners, lawmakers, environmentalists, and everyday citizens.
Today, its central role in eco-criticality and environmental justice in the broadest sense is shaping everything from migration and policy to cultural reorganisation and geo-political alignment. In this workshop, the audience meet figures and moments that dovetail in the landscape as a mechanism of critical thinking, a philosophical mode, and a place. Using non-linear case studies, learners will look at how landscape has been harnessed to unite and divide, and to emancipate and discriminate, as well as how it connects us to the non-human.

Dr Desai will also be holding a talk titled What is to be given": Chittaprosad's alt-Cold War satire, or a little history of empathy on November 17, 2023, 11.00 am – 12.30 pm IST.
The agony of the Korean War (June 1950–July 1953) ended seventy years ago in July this year. But mainstream history has yet to register neutralist Indian Prime Minister's game-changing role in curbing America's hawkish interventionism and mediating the peace resolution.
In light of this year's seventieth war anniversary of the conflict's conclusion and non-alignment's comeback in the global south, this talk revisits those events through the little-discussed Korean War period foreign-policy-themed political cartoons of Bengali artist Chittaprosad not only for insights into the past and geopolitics today. It delves into the satirical endeavour, or how an artist mined the human and philosophical depths of humour to turn the political image into art.
